Villa Oeiras Superior 15 Years, 50cl
Villa Oeiras
Carcavelos Villa Oeiras Superior was aged in Portuguese and French oak barrels for an average of 15 years. The nose reveals aromas of dried fruits, spices, tobacco, and toffee. Semi-sweet and excellently intense, it presents a rich palate with elegant acidity balanced by sweetness and a lingering finish. Ideal as an aperitif or digestif, it pairs well with dry or semi-cured cheeses, pâtés, and convent sweets.
Carcavelos, a region demarcated in 1908, is located very close to the mouth of the Tagus River in the parishes of S. Domingos de Rana and Carcavelos in the municipality of Cascais, and part of the parish of Oeiras in the municipality of the same name. The fame of Carcavelos wines is lost in time. The Marquis of Pombal, who produced them on his estate in Oeiras, appreciated them so much that King José I presented them as a gift to the court of Beijing in 1752.
Wine production was the most important economic activity in the parish of Carcavelos for centuries. Its centuries-old name, quality, and typical characteristics were recognized by a Legislative Charter in 1908.
