Garrafeira is a very old Portuguese term that refers to wines aged in bottles, a process that provides a better integration of structure, body, acidity, gravity and wood. Over the years, the wines stored in cellars began to have a designation and become part of the legislation of some of the best wines in Portugal.

In Alentejo, it is now a term reserved for high quality wines, with a minimum aging of 12 months for white wines - of which at least six months in a glass bottle - and, in the case of red wines, 30 months - with at least 12 months in a glass bottle, a process duly monitored hand in hand by the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission - CVRA and managed with an individual current account.
