Dona Clara uses the name, as well as the image, of the Quinta's main house, Dona Clara.
The grapes for this wine come from throughout Quinta da Romaneira and, more than any other wine, Dona Clara is today a faithful representative of all aspects of the property and all the grape varieties grown there. As of 2019, Dona Clara's blend is not only made up of all the traditional Douro grape varieties grown in Romaneira: Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao, but also includes some blends of Syrah and Petit Verdot, two monovarietals. of great success in Romaneira that bring more complexity and depth to the Dona Clara lot.
Fermented in stainless steel vats for 7 days, followed by malolactic fermentation for two weeks.
100% aged in 225lt French oak barrels for 10 months, 10% new oak, 90% second year barrels
